Synergy 2000 Helps SPIROL Deliver High Quality, Lower Costs and a Competitive Advantage
Danielson, CT – Spirol International, a global supplier of engineered fasteners and tubular products, has chosen Zontec's Synergy 2000 Statistical Process Control (SPC) software as the corporate standard technology for its quality assurance program.
SPIROL sells billions of components each year to the automotive, aerospace, computer, telecommunications and medical device industries. Its product line includes coiled, solid and slotted pins, inserts, disc springs, compression limiters, spacers and bushings. SPIROL products range in size from extremely large components used in farm, construction and aerospace applications to tiny components found in eyeglasses and miniature surgical instruments.
Flexibility, ease of use, the graphical user interface and rapid implementation were key factors during SPIROL's SPC software evaluation.
According to SPIROL's lead manufacturing manager on the project, Lisa Labbe, "we must build quality into the manufacturing process, and Zontec's software will help us monitor and control the process both to ensure quality products and to identify areas where we can reduce process variation. Given our production volume, we cannot inspect every component. At the end of the day, Zontec will help us maintain and improve quality while reducing manufacturing costs so that we can deliver the best value to our customers."
SPIROL will connect inspection equipment to the SPC data collection stations to eliminate manual data entry. Future plans call for expansion of automated data collection in its secondary operations such as heat treat.
Once the Synergy 2000 software is deployed and successfully implemented at SPIROL's corporate headquarters in Danielson, CT and at the Windsor, Ontario, Canada manufacturing facility, the company will roll out the technology to their additional North American and global manufacturing operations.
